General information, not advice. You can check the status of your passport application online with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) tool, rather than waiting on the phone. If you submitted your application very recently (4 business days or less in person, 9 or less by mail), the official page suggests waiting: it may not yet appear in the system, but it is processed according to the service standards. After that period, you can use the online tool or call 1-800-567-6868. If processing takes more than 30 business days, a full refund is provided for most applications.

Note how and when you submitted your application: in person, by mail or online (renewals only), in Canada, in the United States or elsewhere, and how many business days ago.
Application submitted in person 4 business days ago or less, or by mail (Canada or United States) 9 business days ago or less: the official page suggests waiting.
