Canada Child Benefit calculator (federal level) ↗ Tool offered by ITAG
Demande au Québec is published by ITAG, which also offers these tools. They give an estimate, not an official decision. Some require creating an account, free or paid depending on the tool. This link is not a source.
- Maximum annual amount per child (2026)
- $3,068, plus $1,077 for a single-parent family
- Minimum annual amount per child (2026)
- $1,221, plus $430 for a single-parent family
- By family income in 2026
- Two-parent family: $3,068 at $60,000 or less, $1,221 at $107,000 or more. Single-parent family: $4,145 at $44,000 or less, $1,651 at $107,000 or more.
- Payment frequency
- Four times a year (January, April, July, October); monthly on request for a change of frequency (first business day of the month)
- If your child was born in Quebec
- No application: automatic registration; payment within 45 calendar days
- Retroactivity
- Up to 11 months from the date Retraite Québec receives the application
- Check that you or your spouse meet the conditions: being responsible for the care and education of a child under 18, living with the child, living in Quebec (under the Taxation Act) and having an eligible status (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the past 18 months, or protected person).
- If your child was born in Quebec, you do not need to apply: registration is automatic when you send the birth declaration to the Directeur de l'état civil. You will then receive the Allocation famille within 45 calendar days, and Retraite Québec will contact you if an application is needed.
- If your child was born elsewhere in Canada, was born outside Canada, was adopted, or if you become a Quebec resident, apply. Go through Mon dossier with your Service d'authentification gouvernementale account (create it if needed).
- If you and your spouse both have a Social Insurance Number (SIN), you can apply online. Otherwise, fill in the Allocation famille application form (LPF-800) and send it over the Internet.
- Attach the supporting documents for your situation (for example, two proofs of residence if you arrived in Quebec in the last 24 months). After sending, avoid submitting another application: you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt, then a decision by mail.
- File your Quebec income tax return every year, even with no income to report (your spouse too), otherwise payments are suspended.
- Check your annual notice in Mon dossier in mid-June: it shows the amounts for the 12-month period from July to June. Tell Retraite Québec about any change in your family situation.
