Can I vote?

New to Québec? Here's how provincial elections work, in plain terms.

Who can vote in a Québec provincial election
Permanent resident, not yet a citizen?

You cannot vote in this election until you obtain Canadian citizenship. This is different from municipal elections, where some permanent residents may be eligible depending on local rules.

International student or temporary worker?

Same rule: Canadian citizenship is required for provincial elections, regardless of how long you've lived or studied in Québec.

What's a "circonscription"?

Québec is divided into 127 electoral districts (circonscriptions). Each elects one member of the Assemblée nationale (MNA). Find yours on the circonscription search.

Provincial vs. federal

A provincial election (this one, Oct. 5, 2026) elects the Assemblée nationale du Québec. A federal election elects the House of Commons in Ottawa. Different governments, different responsibilities.
